Groupon order problems and how to resolve them
Most order complaints fall into four groups: nothing arrived, tracking died, the wrong thing turned up, or the voucher never appeared. Each has a different fix and a different deadline.
Nothing has arrived
Groupon Goods orders are fulfilled by third-party suppliers, so delivery windows are wider than on a normal retail site — two to three weeks is common, and imported items can be longer. Find the estimated delivery range on the order page and treat that as the clock, because a claim raised inside the window will simply be told to wait.
Once the final date in the window has passed, the order is late by the seller's own standard. At that point you can ask for redelivery or a refund, and you do not have to accept an open-ended promise to keep waiting. Say clearly which of the two you want; a vague complaint usually gets a delay, a specific request gets an outcome.
Tracking has stopped updating
A stalled tracking number almost always means a handover failure between carriers, a label that was created but never scanned, or a parcel that has been returned to the depot as undeliverable. None of these resolve themselves.
Seven days without a scan is the practical threshold. Send the tracking number, the last scan location and its date when you open a case, and ask the supplier to either raise a lost-parcel claim with the courier or reship. If the courier records a delivery you never received, ask for the proof-of-delivery photo and GPS point — mis-delivery to a neighbouring address is far more common than theft.
Wrong, damaged or not as described
Photograph everything before unpacking further: the outer box, the label, the item, and the specific fault. Photographs taken at the moment of opening carry far more weight than ones taken a week later, and they close off any argument about transit damage versus later damage.
For items that are faulty, damaged or materially different from the listing, the cost of return is not yours to carry. Suppliers frequently authorise a refund without a return for low-value goods because the postage costs more than the item. Do not post anything back at your own expense until you have written confirmation of how you will be reimbursed.
The order took payment but produced no voucher
Look at your bank first and distinguish a pending authorisation from a settled charge. A pending amount that disappears within a few days was never taken and needs no action. A settled charge with no voucher is a failed order and should be refunded in full.
This also happens when an order is placed twice in quick succession and one copy is auto-cancelled. Check for a second voucher in the account before assuming money has vanished — and if two identical charges settled, see the payment problems guide for the duplicate-charge process.
Step-by-step
- 1Open the order and write down the order number and the estimated delivery window.
- 2Decide which problem you have: not arrived, tracking stalled, wrong item, or no voucher.
- 3Gather evidence — tracking screenshot, photos of the item, or the bank line showing the charge.
- 4Say what outcome you want: reship, replacement, or refund.
- 5Submit a request with the order number and evidence attached so the case can be actioned in one pass.
Frequently asked questions
- My Groupon order has not arrived. What can I do?
- Check the estimated delivery window on the order first, because Groupon Goods often ships from third-party suppliers with longer windows than a typical retailer. Once that window has fully passed, the order counts as undelivered and you can ask for a replacement or a refund rather than waiting further.
- My tracking has not updated for days. Is the parcel lost?
- Not necessarily. Tracking commonly stalls at the point a parcel transfers between the supplier's courier and the final delivery carrier. If there has been no scan for seven days, treat it as lost and open a case rather than continuing to refresh the tracking page.
- I received the wrong or a damaged item. Do I have to return it?
- Photograph the item and the packaging before you do anything else. For wrong or damaged goods the return should be at no cost to you, and in many cases the supplier does not ask for the item back at all. Never pay for return postage on a faulty item without written confirmation that it will be reimbursed.
- My voucher never appeared in my account after I paid.
- Confirm the payment actually completed by checking your bank for a settled charge rather than a pending authorisation. If money left your account and no voucher exists, that is a failed order that should be refunded in full; send the transaction date and amount when you open a case.
