How to get a Groupon refund

Whether a voucher went unused, an order arrived damaged, or you were charged twice, this guide walks through exactly what to do, who is eligible, and how long the money takes to come back.

Are you eligible for a refund?

  • The deal was never redeemed and is still within its return window.
  • The merchant cancelled, closed, or refused to honour the voucher.
  • The goods arrived damaged, faulty, incomplete, or never arrived at all.
  • You were charged twice, or charged after cancelling the order.
  • The deal description did not match what was actually provided.

The refund process, step by step

  1. 1

Find your order or voucher number

Open the confirmation email or your Groupon account and copy the order number (usually starts with a long digit string) or the voucher code printed on the deal. Having it ready makes every later step faster.

  2. 2

Check whether the deal is still refundable

Most local deals can be returned for a refund within 3 days of purchase, and many goods orders within 14 days of delivery. Final-sale, event, and travel deals are usually non-refundable unless the merchant cancelled.

  3. 3

Decide between Groupon Bucks and money back

A refund to Groupon Bucks is normally instant and can be used on any other deal. A refund to your original payment method takes longer but returns the money to your card, bank, or PayPal account.

  4. 4

    Submit the refund request

Send us the order or voucher number, the reason for the refund, and any photos of a faulty or missing item. We open a case, chase the merchant where needed, and keep you updated by email.

  5. 5

Track the case until the money lands

You get a unique case reference the moment the request is created. Use it on the Track Request page to see the current status at any time.

Groupon refund questions

How long does a Groupon refund take?
Groupon Bucks are usually credited the same day. A refund to your original payment method typically takes 5 to 10 business days to appear, and up to 14 business days for bank transfers.
Can I get a refund on an expired Groupon voucher?
An expired voucher normally keeps its paid value, which can be applied towards another deal. If the voucher expired because the merchant was unavailable, submit a request and we will pursue a full refund.
What do I need to request a Groupon refund?
Your order or voucher number, the email address used at purchase, a short description of the problem, and photos if the item arrived damaged or incomplete.
Can I get a refund after redeeming the voucher?
Redeemed vouchers are generally final, but if the service was not delivered as described you can still open a case and we will review the evidence with the merchant.
